JTL maintains strong electrical achievement rate as national QAR figures released

The publication of the 2024/25 Qualification Achievement Rate (QAR) figures provides an important moment to reflect on the progress being made across apprenticeship provision nationally.

JTL welcomes the overall increase in achievement rates across the sector, which highlights the growing recognition of apprenticeships as a valuable, high‑quality pathway into skilled careers. This upward trend is positive for employers, apprentices, and the wider UK economy.

We remain committed to quality at the core of everything we do; supporting every apprentice to achieve their potential. While we know that achievement rates are only one part of the picture, a complex metric of quality, they are an important indicator of both the strength of training delivery and the impact of effective employer partnerships.

In electrical specifically, JTL continues to perform above the national rate:

  • The national Electrical Standard achievement rate for 2024/25 stands at 59.9% (having fallen from 62.5% in 2023-24).
  • JTL’s achievement rate in electrical stands at 63.8%, 3.9 percentage points above the national rate.
  • This continues a long‑standing trend – we have remained consistently above the national electrical achievement rate for a decade.

This reflects the dedication of our learners, the commitment of our employers, and the ongoing efforts of our training teams to maintain high standards.

We also recognise that there is more to do. Across all provision, the national overall rate across all apprenticeships now exceeds JTL’s overall rate, and in the plumbing apprenticeship we will soon benefit from a new Level 2/Level 3 standard which promises to be more aligned with employer need and more deliverable, enabling us to hone in further on quality improvement.

Achievement rates alone do not tell the full story, and our priority remains on:

  • Reducing withdrawals.
  • Strengthening employer partnerships.
  • Ensuring a high‑quality curriculum and learner experience across every trade.

As we look ahead, our focus is clear: to continue raising the quality of apprenticeship training, to support more learners to successful completion, and to work collaboratively with employers to build the skilled workforce our industries need.
