Great for apprentices and seasoned pros: KNIPEX Electrical Installations Set

Starting out or simply looking to streamline the kit you rely on every day? Then the KNIPEX Electrical Installations Set (00 31 30 BK) is for you. This practical pack brings together three of the company’s top tools that cover a wide spread of day-to-day installation tasks without weighing down the tool bag.

The set focuses on the jobs electricians carry out most often, from stripping and cutting to gripping, crimping and finishing. Rather than padding the kit with specialist items, it centres on tools that are always needed on site, whether working on first fix, second fix or fault-finding.

The KNIPEX VDE tested Pliers for Electrical Installation (13 86 200) combine six functions in one pair of pliers including gripping, bending, deburring, cutting cable, stripping and crimping. Smooth gripping surfaces near the tips allow single cores to be held without damage while the distinctive outer edge lets you deburr and expand flush mounted sockets. Integrated cable shears cut copper cable up to 15mm, built-in stripping positions cover common conductor sizes and it has a universal crimp die for wire-end ferrules.

Also included is the KNIPEX ErgoStrip (16 95 01 SB), a universal stripping tool aimed at simplifying cable prep. It tackles round, data and coaxial cables meaning fewer tools are needed during installation work – it’s possible to dismantle and strip all standard cables in modern house wiring quickly and without swapping tools. Its slim, tapered nose helps when working in flush-mounted boxes and internal markings allow consistent, repeatable stripping of conductors and coax cables.

Rounding off the set is a KNIPEX classic – the VDE tested Diagonal Cutter (70 06 160). With a narrow head for confined spaces and precision cutting edges for soft and hard wire, it is suited to a wide range of cutting tasks from fine copper conductors to hard wire such as wire rope fibre. Clean cuts, even at the tip of the blades, make it a dependable choice for everyday use.

The Electrical Installations Set (00 31 30 BK) is a straightforward, no-nonsense starting point for apprentices and a tidy refresh for experienced electricians who want dependable tools that cover the basics without overcomplicating things.
