JTL Birmingham to host National Apprenticeship Week open event for electrical and plumbing employers and apprentices

JTL is inviting local electrical and plumbing employers, professionals and apprentices to an open event at the JTL Birmingham Training Centre, on Rocky Lane, during National Apprenticeship Week.

Taking place on Thursday 12 February from 3pm to 7pm, the event offers attendees the opportunity to explore JTL’s training offer, connect with industry partners, and access practical support designed to help strengthen skills, develop careers and support workforce growth across the region.

Guests will be able to tour JTL’s modern workshops and classrooms, gaining a first-hand look at the high-quality facilities that support the development of the next generation of skilled tradespeople.  Visitors will also have the chance to take part in hands-on demonstrations and workshops, and speak directly with JTL staff about apprenticeships, funding and professional development opportunities.

The event will feature a trade show with leading organisations including JIB, Milwaukee, Aico, Brother, Luceco, Edmundson and more, giving visitors the chance to explore the latest products and innovations shaping the sector. Attendees can also enjoy live music and complimentary street food throughout the afternoon.

A range of CPD and skills sessions will run during the event, including:

  • CV writing and employer readiness, with practical guidance on building a strong CV and finding the right employer.
  • Employer funding, to help businesses understand the process, requirements and costs of taking on an apprentice.
  • Powering progress, an introduction to Inspection & Testing with JTL’s new CPD tutors, alongside insights into JTL’s short-course offer and upcoming training opportunities.

Those attending will also have access to free electrical calibration, available to the first 30 attendees on the day, and will be in with a chance to win a Milwaukee Power Pack giveaway, worth over £400.

The event is open to employers looking to take on an electrical or plumbing apprentice in 2026, as well as apprentices, learners and anyone interested in the future of the skilled trades.

Neil Hammersley, Delivery Team Manager at JTL Birmingham, said:

“We’re excited to welcome employers, apprentices and local trade professionals into our Birmingham centre during National Apprenticeship Week. This event is designed to bring the local industry together, with hands-on demos, practical workshops and expert advice for both employers and learners. Whether you’re looking to build skills, explore apprenticeship opportunities or connect with industry partners, there will be something for everyone.”

With national demand for skilled electrical and plumbing professionals continuing to grow, the Birmingham open event is an opportunity to discover how JTL is supporting local employers, developing talent and helping to build a stronger workforce in the West Midlands.
