JTL hosts Aico Community Awards 2026 – Apprentice of the Year assessment day

JTL is proud to have hosted the assessment day at JTL Birmingham for the Aico Community Awards 2026 – Apprentice of the Year category.

Electrical apprentices from across the UK put their knowledge and practical skills to the test as part of this prestigious awards process. The standard on display in Birmingham was exceptional, and we are incredibly proud to support and celebrate the very best emerging talent in the UK electrical industry.

The assessment brought together some of the country’s most promising electrical apprentices, all competing for a place at the final stage of the awards. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase not only individual skill and dedication, but also the strength and quality of apprenticeship training across the sector.

We are especially proud that four JTL apprentices – Emily Simmons, Jack Brammer, Joseph Kelly and Chris Parnell – were among those taking part. Having four JTL learners represented at this stage is a significant achievement and a real testament to their hard work, professionalism and commitment to excellence.

Neil Hammersley, JTL Delivery Team Manager for the West region, said:

“We’re really pleased to welcome Aico and their competitors to JTL’s superb Birmingham centre – and we’re especially proud that there are four JTL names in the running. Their place in the competition is a testament to the hard work and professionalism we expect of all JTL apprentices, and these four are a great example of that.”

Shortlisted candidates will go on to attend the Aico Community Awards ceremony on 16 April 2026 at the International Convention Centre, Birmingham, where the Apprentice of the Year winner will be announced.

We wish all competitors the very best of luck – and extend our full support to Emily, Jack, Joseph and Chris as they represent JTL on this national stage.

Hosting events like this reinforces JTL’s commitment to championing high standards and supporting the future of the electrical industry.
